Emily  Chaia  Morganstein  My Life

To obtain a career as a columnist or editor for a local newspaper, publish a book, continue my volunteer work in the addictions field using my peer certification, and become a foster parent in Pinellas County, Florida.

Education and Specialties

I have my Bachelor of Arts degree in the communications field, and I am Florida Board certified as a Recovery Peer Specialist for Adults (CRPS-A).

I specialize in writing columns and features in either MLA or AP style regarding addiction, sex, college, and other topics that require research, a human feel, and a comedic touch.

I'm computer proficient on both Windows- and Macintosh-based machines, and I'm very comfortable with spreadsheet, presentation, photo editing, and design programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop Elements, and InDesign. If I'm not familiar with a piece of software, I am willing and able to learn quickly.

My experience includes writing and copy editing local news reports, environmental, world, and personal viewpoints, entertainment reviews, and sports features. I have copy edited book chapters and designed newspaper page layout, advertisements, and photography features. I spend a lot of my time volunteering with addicts in a 12-step recovery program. I have also been a tutor and mentor for students and provided child care in pre- and primary schools.

I have volunteered as a secretary for several local organizations.
